After graduating from UNL in 1971, I lived in Germany 2 years. Received master's degree from Boston University in 1975. Lived in California for 6 years, Lincoln another 4 years, Iowa for 4 years, and have now been in Indianapolis for 18 years. I was with Girls Inc., a national nonprofit organization, for 25 years. Now I'm living in Columbus, Ohio, where my daughter and her husband are expecting their first child.
No favorite school stories -- life actually began for me after leaving high school. I did enjoy the debate team.
The Platte River south of town, especially in the late fall or early winter when the leaves are falling and everything is golden and brown. That is Nebraska to me. My favorite time of day is late afternoon when the sun is low in the sky, the shadows are long and the air is golden.
Europe -- nearly anywhere in Europe. I try to make one trip each year, now that my daughter is out of college (actually she's back in graduate school, but I started making my annual trips to Europe when she graduated with her bachelors). I just returned from Spain and Portugal and really loved it, although Ireland is still my favorite. My dad's family is Irish and I felt a real connection when I was there.
More recently I have been to western North Carolina to the John C. Campbell Folk School - it is a magical place and I hope to return often for classes in various arts.
Oh please, don't make me do it. After 1967 has been much better.

Obviously, I too am devastated to learn of Jim's passing - I really enjoyed reconnecting with him at our 50th reunion. Jim was greatly admired in our class. And his father had an impact on my life as well - he was our family doctor for years, even though I lived on the other side of the tracks.

Hi all. I live in Ohio and our Governor was one of the first to call for residents to stay at home. Our state has officially been 'sheltering in place' for the past week, but I have been staying at home since March 13. So far it seems, from the Governor's daily updates on TV, that our efforts are helping as the curve is flattening (the graph of the growth of virus cases). My daily routine is that I stay home, with the exception of going to the grocery store for curbside pick-up. I work in my art studio, read, watch a lot of TV, and video-chat with my kids and grandkids most days. Here is a photo of the projects I've finished. Hope you all stay well. We'll get through this somehow.

Chuck, thank you once again for finding a way to have the 3 valedictorian awards given this past weekend at our 50th class reunion. It was a very special thing for you to do, and not one we will soon forget. Great job on the reunion!!
