60th CLASS REUNION IN 2027:   Our classmate Scott Nelson has offered to host our 60th Reunion next year in Lincoln where Scott's family owns a "Party Barn", a 48' x 70' air-conditioned building on a 3.3-acre "private property" site at 5100 Johnson Road in Lincoln, just 20 minutes south of I-80.  

This barn has tables and chairs to seat up to 300 people, indoor plumbing and bathrooms, an 8' x 12' digital screen to show class photos and videos, a golf simulator, darts board, a 50-yard pitching area, plus regular and handicapped parking next to the barn.  Scott can help us build a bonfire in the outdoor firepit (weather permitting) and even put on a Fireworks show (if desired).   

Holding our 60th Reunion in Lincoln would allow more classmates (plus other KHS alumni) from Lincoln, Omaha, and eastern Nebraska to attend.  Our KHS1967 classmates could meet first at the Party Barn, then a few hours later, we could schedule a time when Alumni and Spouses from other KHS classes could join us.

Out-of-state classmates could fly into Omaha or Lincoln airports easier (and with more frequent flights) than flying into Kearney or Grand Island.  There are numerous Lincoln motels within a 1-5 mile radius of Scott's barn with group rates available that are often less expensive than Kearney motels.

To keep costs down, Scott will not charge us to use the Party Barn, plus his family will help out as free Servers during a Saturday afternoon cocktail time, Saturday night dinner, and Sunday morning breakfast brunch buffet.  

To avoid conflicts with Cornhusker football games that start in September 2027, Scott suggests scheduling our 60th Reunion in Lincoln on either August 21-22 or August 28-29 in 2027.

Jeanne Thatcher Bogner facilitates the Kearney Class Coffees scheduled on the 2nd Thursday of each month.  Jeanne says Kearney classmates are "willing to arrange a get-together for those who want to meet in Kearney on the Friday before the date that is set in Lincoln... most likely a gathering at a place such as Fanatics where we can order (and pay for) our own food and drinks, and just enjoy conversations and catch with each other's lives." 

Our 8-question "60th Reunion Class Survey" ended on August 28, 2026.  Results will be shared at the Omaha-Lincoln Alumni Lunch on September 9, 2026, and at the Kearney Class Coffee on September 10, 2026.

UPDATED SCHEDULE OF EVENTS!  The Kearney Public Schools Foundation (KPSF) has scheduled an "All-Class Reunion" from Friday, September 18, to Saturday, September 19, 2026, in Kearney.  All KHS graduates, spouses and other family members are invited to attend.

Hotel rooms are available for discounted rates at the Crowne Plaza ($189.95) at 308-238-7000 or the Kearney Holiday Inn ($159.95) at 308-237-5971.

KHS Booster Club's Tailgate Party followed by the KHS Varsity Football game vs. Lincoln  Southeast at UNK's Cope Stadium at Foster Field located west of the Nebraskan Student Union near 1500 West 25th Street in Kearney.  Tickets are $12 per person which includes Cope Stadium admission.

9:30pm - 11:00pm
Rowdy Crawl at Cunninghams - The Bricks at 15 West 23rd Street in Kearney.  No entry fee.  Attendees purchase their own beverages.

EVENTS ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19:

Free Guided Tour of our Old Kearney High (now First Baptist Church) at 3610 Sixth Avenue in Kearney. 

10:00am
Free Guided Tour of the Old Kearney Junior High (now Central Elementary and the Merryman Performing Arts Center) at 300 West 24th Street in Kearney.

12:00pm
Lunch at Yanney Park at 3100 Fifth Avenue in Kearney.  Bring your own lunch or buy lunch from a food truck.  

2:00pm
Free Guided Tour of the new Kearney High School starting with the Distinguished Graduate Plaque Dedication at 2702 West 11th Street in Kearney.  

5:30pm
All-Class Reception honoring Bearcat Boys Track & Field Coach Roger Mathiesen, followed by 6:30pm All-Class Dinner with Class table groupings and memorabilia tables at Younes Conference Center - Crowne Plaza, 416 West Talmadge Road in Kearney.  Tickets are $40 per person.

EVENTS ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20:

Sunday morning is reserved for any KHS Class to host their own Class Reunion events such as Breakfast, Lunch, or other activities.  However, feedback in June 2026 from both Kearney Class Coffee attendees and the Omaha-Lincoln Lunch attendees found no interest in holding our own KHS1967 reunion event during the All-Class Reunion in September 2026, especially since our 60th Class Reunion will be scheduled in 2027.  Your thoughts?  Please email our webmaster Chuck Wolf at:  chuck.wolf49@gmail.com

UPDATE ON RON GORGEN:  Our classmate Ron Gorgen was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease 7 years ago, but the last 3 years have been the most challenging.  Fortunately, Ron and his family were able to enjoy lots of travel and family time together during the past seven years.  However, his wife Nancy reports that Ron has now been admitted to a memory care home in St. Louis, about 25 miles from their home.  Nancy is able to visit Ron every day, while their three sons and their families can visit Ron during the week.  Ron enjoys spending time with 7 other men who are residents at the 12-person memory care home.  You can share your favorite KHS memories with Ron by mailing a card or letter to:  Ron & Nancy Gorgen, 1509 Carman Glen Court, Manchester, MO 63021.  You can email a message to Ron and photos of you today to Nancy at:  ntgorgen@icloud.com

JOIN OUR CLASS FACEBOOK GROUP:  Our classmate Karen Heinz Roper administers a private Facebook Group called "KHS Class of '67 (Nebraska)" that YOU can join!  (Yes, the word "Nebraska" is included in the group's name because, believe it or not, there are other KHS classes from 1967 in different states, e.g., Kirksville, Missouri and Kingston, New York!)  Login to your Facebook account, then search Facebook for "KHS Class of '67 (Nebraska)".  Click our group name in the results, then tap "Join Group".  When Karen approves your request, you'll be a new Facebook Group member!  If you like Facebook, you need to join our Class Facebook Group.  Yes, it's FREE!

OTHER FACEBOOK GROUPS:   "You Know You're From Kearney When..." is a private Facebook Group that posts memories about life in Kearney when we were kids.  This group is open to anyone who has lived in Kearney.  "Kearney Junior/Senior High Memorial Page" is a public Facebook Group that posts obituaries and memories of former KJHS/KHS students who have died but who we may still remember.  This group is open to anyone who attended Kearney Junior or Senior High.  If you already have a Facebook account, you can login and search Facebook for "You Know You're From Kearney When" or "Kearney Junior/Senior High Memorial Page", then request to join either or both Facebook groups.  They're free!

IN MEMORY:  We fondly remember 52 of our KHS Classmates who have died since 1967, including Cinda House (Bertrand), Jerry Jelken, Jim Lane, and John Ransom, each of whom died in 2020; Fred Best, Calvin Cady, Dan Else, Jackie Pahl (Lashley). Lynn Weber, Charlotte Wilken (Webb), and Sally Zikmund (Husen) who died in 2021; Ron Blessing, Pat Swift and Elizabeth Wells who died in 2022; Craig Anderson and Mike Schmidt who died in 2023; Annette Krumland (Orlowski) and Don Wietjes who died in 2024, and Judy Martenson (Ahrens), Tom Tingle, Barb Knapp (Brandt) and Mark Spelts who died in 2025.

ALL KHS1967 WEBSITE PAGES ARE NOW SECURE:  When you visit our KHS1967.org website, your web browser will now display a Padlock icon  or the word "Secure" next to each webpage's address in your browser.  Some browsers may also display https before the address (the "s" means "secure").  This means that every page on our website is now secure, protected by Secure Socket Layer or SSL technology.  Before now, our website hosting company (Class Creator) only protected the Sign-In page, Admin and Member Functions pages, all User data, and any page where credit card information was collected, using Class Creator's own SSL certificate.  But that resulted in some web browsers displaying a scary "Not Secure" label next to other pages on our website.  Now, all data, all information, and every webpage is protected under our own KHS1967.org SSL certificate.  If you have any questions, please sign-in and click "Contact Us" on the black horizontal menu bar to send your questions to our website administrator Chuck Wolf.  Thanks!

YOUR FIRST TIME TO VISIT OUR WEBSITE?  If you graduated from Kearney High School in 1967, click "JOIN HERE" below the blue "Sign In" button at the top right of the Home Page, then find and click on Your Name (as listed in our KHS 1967 LOG Yearbook).  Then fill out your own free "Classmate Profile" with only the information that you want to share with Classmates (not the Public).  Provide your work or home e-mail address, then select a password (which you can change at anytime).  Tell us about your life since KHS.  Add your married name and the first name you prefer to be called today.  You can add photos and videos to your Classmate Profile.  Post a comment or birthday greeting to a Classmate using "What's New".  Send and receive private emails to other Classmates in the "Message Center".  And best of all, it's all FREE!

FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD?  Click the blue "Sign In" button at the top right of the Home Page, then follow the instructions at the top of the "Log In" page to reset your password.  Or click the "Forgot Password?" link right above the blue "Log In" button.  Enter your e-mail address, and the system will automatically e-mail you a link to reset your password.  If you don't remember which e-mail address you used or if you no longer have access to an old e-mail address, then click "Contact us" on the "Log In" page or on the black horizontal menu bar at the top of the page to send your name and your new email address to our website administrator Chuck Wolf.  He'll email you a temporary password that you can change once you've logged in.

HOW TO SEND A PRIVATE MESSAGE:  Even if you don't know another classmate's email address or phone number, you can send them a Private Message that is NOT shared with other classmates and is NOT posted on our Class Website.  Just sign in to our khs1967.org website, click on "Classmate Profiles" in the black horizontal Menu bar, then click on the name of the classmate you want to contact.  Below their photos but above their birthday and other profile information, click the "Send (Name) a private message" link.  Fill in the Subject of your message, such as: "Message from (Your Name)", and type your private message, then click the blue "Send Private Message" box.  If you want to share your own email address or phone number, you'll need to include it in your Private Message.
