Taught Debate and Speech at KHS.


Earle Boardman:  status unknown
Taught Music and directed the Orchestra at KHS.  Was reported to own a music store in Colorado.


Claire Boroff: retired and living in Kearney
Taught Senior Civics and was Head Coach of Varsity Football at KHS; Big Ten champions in 1965.  Also taught in Gothenberg, Lincoln, and Kearney; Head Coach of Varsity Football at Kearney State College.  Coached Karl and Kirk Melson in both high school and college.


Thelma Browers: deceased
Taught Senior English at KHS.  Daughter Jere Sue Browers graduated KHS in 1967.


George Brown:  deceased
Taught Biology and Zoology and was Assistant Track Coach for field events at KHS.  Son Gary Brown graduated KHS in 1966; son Randy Brown graduated KHS in 1969.


Gerald "Jerry" Brummer:  retired and living in Longmont, CO
Principal at KHS until 1968, then attended Arizona State University to receive PhD doctorate.  Principal at Niwot High School in St. Vrain Valley School District in Longmont, Colorado from 1971 to 1987.  Jerry is living with his son in Longmont, since a stroke in 2005 has affected his memory and ability to walk.  Former KHS student Jim Richardson is his physical therapist. 

Elsie Carlson:  retired and living on a farm near Overton with her husband, Marvin.

Phyllis Chamberlin:  deceased
Taught Commercial Shorthand at KHS.  Daughter Jeanne Chamberlin graduated from KHS in 1966. 


Rosalie Clement:  deceased
Librarian and sponsor of the Library Club at KHS.


Ruby Duryea:  deceased
Taught Senior English at KHS.


Les Elmore:  deceased
Business Instructor at KHS.


Sam Forney:  deceased
Head Custodian at KHS.


Ilene Gotobed: status unknown
Cafeteria Supervisor at KHS.


Joe Greeno:  deceased
Taught Physical Education and was Athletic Director, Varsity Track and Cross Country Coach at KHS.  Joe started Kearney's kid baseball and Golden Gloves boxing programs.  The Omaha World-Herald named him "Coach of the Year" in 1966.  Kearney Public Schools named the "Joe Greeno Memorial Track" at KHS after Coach Greeno.

Taught Biology and Botany at KHS.
Daughter Bonnie Hansen graduated KHS in 1966.

Taught American History and World History at KHS.


Riley Harris:  retired and living in Kearney
Doing some substitute teaching; Secretary of Kearney Elks Lodge; Taught Algebra 2 and Geometry and was Assistant Varsity Football Coach at KHS.  Later was long-time Varsity Football Coach at KHS and winner of lifetime coaching award.


Kern Harshbarger: retired and living in Kearney
Taught Art and Physical Education at KHS.


Jack Hurt:  retired and living in Kearney
Taught Business and Bookkeeping at KHS

Taught Business Law, Retailing and Distributive Education and sponsored DECA at KHS.


John Johnston:  retired and living in Ralston
Superintendent of Schools for Kearney Public Schools.  His son John Johnston graduated KHS in 1968 and became an actor.


Kari Keating Anderson:  retired and living in Kearney with husband, Tom Anderson
Taught Typing and sponsored Girls' Cheerleading at KHS.


Jerry Kroeger: deceased
Taught World History and was Head Coach of Boys Varsity Basketball at KHS; Big Ten champions in 1967.  Later was Athletic Director at Lincoln Northeast High School.


Denny Long:  retired and living in Kearney
Taught Auto Mechanics and Electricity; was Assistant Varsity Football Coach at KHS.  Later was KHS Athletic Director after Joe Greeno.

Taught American History and Senior Social Studies at KHS.

Taught American History and Senior Social Studies; was Assistant Basketball Coach at KHS.


Marion Morrow: deceased
Taught Physics and Chemistry; was Varsity Tennis Coach and Wrestling Coach at KHS.  Son Jerry Morrow graduated KHS in 1968.

Boys' Guidance Counselor at KHS.

Roberta "Bobbie" McKenzie:  retired and living in Kearney
Taught Journalism and sponsored the Echo newspaper and The Log yearbook at KHS.

Taught Sophomore English, Spanish and sponsored the Spanish Club at KHS.


Paul Norblade: retired and living in Kearney
Taught Drivers Education at KHS.

Taught Math and was Senior Class Sponsor at KHS.  Later taught in Rockville, Nebraska, until the mid 1980's.


Sharon Peck:  deceased
Taught French at KHS.


Jack Ramey: retired and living in Kearney
Taught Boys' Physical Education and was Head Coach of Varsity Wrestling and Assistant Football Coach at KHS. Later was a coach at Kearney State College and a General in the Nebraska National Guard.

John Rumbaugh: deceased
Was Head Coach of Varsity Football in 1965 at KHS.  Son Mike Rumbaugh was quarterback and graduated KHS in 1965.

Taught Algebra 2 and Geometry; was Varsity Golf Coach at KHS.

Taught French and sponsored the French Club at KHS.

Taught Home Economics and was Girls Guidance Counselor at KHS.  Married to Art Teacher Jack Shofstall.  Daughter Betty Shofstall graduated KHS in 1966.

Taught Art at KHS.  Married to Girls Guidance Counselor Iris Shofstal.  Daughter Betty Shofstall graduated KHS in 1966.

Taught Industrial Occupations and Machine Shop at KHS.

Taught Music and directed the Varsity Band, Swing Band, and Pep Band at KHS. 


Maggie St. John:  retired and living in Lincoln
Taught History.  Was married to KHS graduate Hart St. John.

Gary Stickney: retired and living in Kearney
Taught Sophomore English and Speech; was Assistant Basketball Coach at KHS.  Played basketball on the 1960 KHS Basketball Team that won the Big Ten Championship.  Married Lana Peppler, so Gary is a brother-in-law to Natalie Peppler from KHS 1967.
